Plate girders are fabricated from individual plates, so the designer has ultimate flexibility in terms of flange and web dimensions and can therefore maximise material efficiency for any given requirement. With our own in-house plate girder manufacturing lines, we have direct control over the production of plate girders, allowing us to avoid risks involved in sourcing alternative proprietary beam solutions which are often subject to long lead times.

Bespoke web hole arrangements

Our custom-made plate girders also afford us the opportunity to cut web holes to varying sizes and spacings along an individual beam to suit specific services or aesthetic requirements. The need for costly ‘infills’ associated with some other manufacturing methods is completely avoided.

Economy of design

The simplicity of production processes associated with generic plate girders means they are often more economic than the equivalent proprietary alternative. This coupled with short lead-in times and guarantee of availability makes the generic plate girder an attractive option.

Fire Protection

The proportions of plate girders can easily be tailored to help you reduce the thickness of intumescent paint you may require. The reduction in thickness, associated cost and curing time when compared to equivalent proprietary solutions can be significant. In addition to plate girders, we provide a shot blast girder solution, supporting any type of paint finish.
