Maintenance Engineer

The Company

Shafton Steel Services offer a wide range of steel products, manufactured in a large state-of-the-art, independent steel services and processing centre.

We continue to invest in the leading technology for cutting, drilling, profiling, shotblasting and priming equipment, ensuring we manufacture high quality products whilst meeting the demands of the construction and engineering industry. Our steel is fully processed up to and including execution class 4 in UKCA Marking.

The Role 

We are looking for an experienced individual with a background in electrical / mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate would be comfortable in both disciplines.

Being able to work on your own initiative when needed and show a willingness and desire to see jobs through.

Responsibilities

All aspects of maintenance regarding machinery, equipment, and installations on site including proactive and reactive maintenance.

To ensure downtime is kept to a minimum in a fast-paced industry.

Experience / Qualifications

  • NVQ level 3 in mechanical or electrical or equivalent.
  • Electrical / mechanical fault finding.
  • Multiskilled experience would be an advantage.
  • Ability to read mechanical / electrical drawings.
  • Changing bearings / gears.
  • Plasma cutting machinery.
  • Gas cutting machinery.
  • Saw / drilling machinery.
  • Knowledge of welders / grinders
  • Trouble shooting and problem-solving skills.

Experience with maintenance management systems.
