Shafton Steel Services is a subsidiary of Billington Holdings, we offer a wide range of steel products, manufactured in a large state of the art, independent steel services and processing centre, where we have facilities to provide Oxy Gas & HD Plasma profiling, plate drilling, shear punch, section cutting and drilling.
We continue to invest in the leading technology for cutting, drilling, profiling, shotblasting and priming equipment, ensuring we manufacture high quality products whilst meeting the demands of the construction and engineering industry. Our steel is fully processed up to and including execution class 4 in UKCA Marking.
The Role
Based at Shafton Steel Services in Barnsley; this is a great opportunity to become part of an integral team who are operating in a high volume, fast paced environment.
We are looking to recruit an experienced CAD technician to join our team, Knowledge of drawing and nesting using SigmaNEST / Steel Projects is essential. Ideally from within the structural or manufacturing sector would be a distinct advantage, but training will be given.
Duties will include drawing and nesting to customer supplied details on our various CNC machines using SigmaNEST / Steel Projects. Additionally, there will be administrative duties to be carried out making sure all paperwork is issued correctly.
You must have an enthusiastic, can-do attitude with a good work ethic and pay attention to detail as we pride ourselves on giving our customers the best service available.
The role includes:
- Nesting on profile packages, SigmaNEST / Steel Projects.
- Liaising with departments to agree design details.
- Responding to production queries.
- Producing and revising quality 2D CAD Layout drawings.
- Preparation of production documentation once drawings approved.
- Management of multiple projects.
- Assisting colleagues with technical support
- Take responsibility for nesting work to the agreed project programmes.
- Responsible for drawings issues and daily housekeeping in terms of both digital and hard copy project file storage
Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to use SigmaNEST and Steel Projects would be of a distinct advantage.
- A background in sheet metal / structural steel
- Ideally 1 – 2 years industry experience as a CAD technician.
- A flexible, proactive attitude.
- Able to work methodically and accurately.
- Excellent communication & organisation skills
- Be able to priorities work to meet production deadlines.
- Strong numeracy and computer skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
